  • Wirelessly Enabled and Distributed Energy Storage (WEDES) Systems Technology has many potential applications. The Electric Vehicles (EVs) is just one of them.

  • Energy or Battery Modules (WEDES-MX modules) do not communicate with each other and do transfer both power and information wirelessly to an On-Board Unit (OBU) that combines power and information to power one or more load such as the electric motor of the EV.

  • The WEDES-MX modules do not have any electrical or mechanical connections to the OBU or any other part of the EV. They are simply inserted in slots.

  • The WEDES-MX modules are easy and safe to handle and do not require engineering or technical expertise to exchange or complicated infrastructure to build. Simply take one or more out and insert one or more in, then start driving again within a very short time.

    Advantages for EV owners/drivers:

  • The elimination or reduction of range anxiety issue that is associated with electric vehicles especially as a result of long waiting time for charging and the limited availability of charging stations.

  • The elimination for the need to have a garage or place to charge and especially at night especially for people who live in apartments.

  • Lower initial EV purchase cost by not having to pay for a larger battery (to reduce range anxiety) that will not be used most of the time and will reduce vehicle’s efficiency.  Be able to add batteries as needed.

  • Potentially reduces the need to own another fossil-fuel/ICE vehicle for long distances.

  • Have the ability to share battery modules they paid for between multiple vehicles.

  • Maintain battery health for longer driving range and reduced battery maintenance cost by not having to charge fast.

  • Be able to always use the best battery cell/chemistry technology on the market without having to pay for new large battery pack or change the vehicle.

    Advantages for HEV/PHEV owners/drivers:

  • Have the ability to drive longer distances on battery mode without the need for gasoline most of the time with the ability to recharge or replace battery (and also allow to recharge a backup battery at home). Both options are maintained. In other words, having the ability to choose between driving on electric, on fossil fuel/gasoline, or hybrid as long distance as they like and as they need with same convenience in terms of refiling time and availability.

    Advantages for LEV owners/drivers:

  • Downtime reduction (time needed for charging).

  • Reduce cost that is a result of the need to purchase more LEVs to use during recharging downtime.
