Solving Energy Availability Anxiety and Security
Wirelessly Enabled and Distributed Energy Storage (WEDES) Systems Technology
March 17-20, 2019:
JAQ Energy LLC has attended and presented at The 2019 NSF SBIR/STTR Spring Phase I Grantee Workshop in Arlington, VA.
February 1, 2019:
JAQ Energy LLC is proud to announce that it has received an NSF STTR Phase I Award from the National Science Foundation (nsf.gov) with a title “STTR Phase I: Wirelessly Enabled and Distributed Energy Storage Systems Technology.”
Fast swap safely by yourself with no need for swapping stations/equipment or trained personnel
The patented WEDES technology Wireless Battery Modules that are safe and easy to handle and quick to swap in less than one minute per module or less than 5 minutes for all modules in a vehicle. Swapping is as simple as sliding out a module (that looks like a suitcase) and sliding in a charged one with no wires to connect or swapping equipment to use.
Fast deployment and redeployment -
As fast as moving a suitcase from Point A to Point B
The WEDES wireless battery modules can quickly be made available in any shop or place such as gas stations, fleet sites, maintenance shops, grocery stores, and apartment/community management/leasing office, among many others. The WEDES wireless battery modules can be moved easily between location based on need to optimize resources. No need for swapping equipment or trained personnel and related significant added cost or deployment time. The only other needed part other than the WEDES wireless modules is the wireless charger (which is also portable and looks like a suitcase)
Easily shareable between vehicles in the same fleet, household, or between people in general - Maximize ROI
Buy or lease several wireless modules and share them if you like. Buy or lease more later as needed. Smart Sharing of battery cells to maximize benefits and utilization of resources. Maximize Return on investment (ROI).
Need-based utilization and efficiency optimization. Operation is possible with any number of inserted/available wireless modules (with missing, disabled, or depleted wireless modules)
The patented WEDES Technology Battery Management Architecture and Control that allows vehicle operation with any number of inserted or active wireless modules. WEDES technology allows for need-based utilization of number of wireless modules distributed between fleet or household vehicles. Feel free to share one or more modules from your vehicle with another vehicle in the fleet, in the household, with your friend, or someone you would like to help. No need to carry heavy and efficiency reducing batteries if you are not going too far.
Decoupled WEDES wireless modules operation. Modules age and fail individually
The patented WEDES Technology Battery Management Architecture and Control allow operation of modules without direct electrical connections. Each WEDES wireless battery module transfer energy to the receiving unit separately. If a module starts to age or have fault, it will not impact the other wireless modules.
Integration flexibility with Electric and Hybrid-Electric Vehicles. Can coexist with original vehicle manufacturer wired on-board battery.
The WEDES wireless receiving On-Board Unit (WEDES OBU) can (a) integrated in the vehicles to replace the manufacturer vehicle’s battery system, (b) be integrated in the vehicle and operates with the manufacturer vehicle’s battery system (share energy deliver to the vehicles and even charged the main wired battery while driving), or (c) added after as an aftermarket product to a vehicle without the affecting the exiting battery and management system and without the need for any modifications to it (the WEDES technology allows connection to exiting battery system without the need to communicate with it or modify it). Installation of a WEDES OBU receiving unit in a vehicle is relatively easy and only requires a few connections.
Flexibility of mixing battery types and capacities. Mixing battery technologies any capacities is no problem.
The patented WEDES Technology Battery Management Architecture and Control allow WEDES wireless battery modules inserted in the same vehicle and operating at the same time to power the vehicle to include batteries with different chemistries/technologies and with different capacities. Technology advances such as more batteries can fit in the same module? No problem, one can insert some old modules with lower capacities and some new modules with larger capacities in the same vehicle’s WEDES receiving OBU and they will just work fine together. New battery chemistry/technology is developed? No problem, one can insert some old modules with older battery chemistry/technology and some new modules with newer battery chemistry/technology in the same vehicle’s WEDES receiving OBU and they will just work fine together. This allows the transition to newer battery or energy storge technologies without losing investments made in older technologies.
Eliminate Paying high upfront costs and reduced efficiency due to Range Anxiety.
Range anxiety does not have to make you buy vehicle(s) with large batteries up front that you might not use most of the time, cannot be shared between vehicles, cost more, reduce efficiency due to always there weight, needs longer time to charge, and expensive to replace with new technologies.
Add/insert, borrow, buy, and/or lease additional WEDES wireless battery modules when needed to extend vehicle range or when there is no time to wait for charging if the vehicle has an on-board wired battery that does not to be large and coexists with the WEDES system.
Charge from any source, including renewables. Optimize charging cost.
Choose your charging source. You can go renewable energy for the good of the environment when you can and utilize non-renewables when you must. Choose the source that is more cost effective, convenient, or better for you as technology advances and cleaner or cheaper energy technologies become available.
Available optional tracking of WEDES wireless modules energy status, utilization profile, locations, and/or health, among others.
.
You can still use your vehicle charger with a charging station if you like
When the WEDES system coexist with another original on-board wired battery, one can still use a charger to charge the original battery (or charge the original battery from the WEDES wireless modules even while driving and then replace the WEDES wireless modules).
Optional charging ability of WEDES wireless modules while inserted in the vehicle.
If desired, an optional version of the WEDES wireless receiving On-Board Unit (WEDES OBU) can allow for wirelessly charging the inserted WEDES wireless modules through the original charging port of the vehicle
About Us
OUR STORY
JAQ Energy LLC was founded in May 2017 as a small-business startup to investigate and develop new technologies that are related to Power Electronic and Energy Systems.
In 2019, JAQ Energy LLC received an NSF STTR Phase I Award (NSF Award #1843319) from The National Science Foundation in order to develop a new type of battery system called "Wirelessly Enabled and Distributed Energy Storage (WEDES) system." OUR TECHNOLOGY
OUR VISION FOR TRANSPORTATION ELECTRIFICATION
Our patented and patent pending Technology aims at developing innovative Power Electronic and Energy Systems that will bring advantages to customers while increasing the utilization of diversified and renewable energy sources in order to support energy efficiency, availability and security without inconvenience. One application of our technology supports Transportation Electrification. Please check other parts of this website to learn more about this technology.
Our vision for transportation electrification application example, through the adoption increase of electrified vehicles (e.gs. EVs and HEVs) and aircrafts (e.gs. drones and flying taxi), is that it should be without the range/mileage anxiety (worries about charging availability and speed), without the high initial cost/investment, and with increased safety. Our technology aims at addressing these issues that are slowing down the adoption rate of electrified vehicles (for example, issues that making people hesitant to buy an EV or hesitant to make the EV their only type of vehicle they need).
